L'apport du test de mémoire de reconnaissance visuelle DMS-48 dans la maladie bipolaire vieillissante

The cognitive symptoms of bipolar disorder concern, in literature, executive functions (especially planification), free verbal recall and encodage strategies. We studied 20 patients with bipolar disorder (BP) and 20 Alzheimer's disease patients (MA), apparied by age, gender and educational level. Mean age was 71 years old. All the patients realized two classical memory tests: IR/FR-16 words and DMS-48 (delayed matching-to-sample). BP patients have memory difficulties in the two tests. They obtained impaired performances in free verbal recall. Cues recall was correct but not sufficient to normalized global recall. MA patients have significatively less free recall scores and less global recall scores than BP patients. In DMS-48, BP patients and MA patients had the same performances in term of scores, but BP patients had more errors since the first Set for abstract pictures. These difficulties give arguments for specific difficulties in encodage, for executive functions especially for planification or for DMS-48 stimuli. This test could be a sensible tool for cognitive deterioration in bipolar disorder.
