Traitement des tumeurs de l'apex pulmonaire

Over the last fifty years, the management of superior sulcus tumors has known a continuous improvement. The first good results were obtained with a sequential association of radiotherapy and surgery. Progress of surgery was possible thanks to the use of different resectional approaches: posterolateral, anterior transcervical-thoracic approach, then the transmanubrial approach and finally the achievement of total vertebrectomy for en bloc resection according to the carcinologic principles. Currently, the most efficient strategy seems to be a combined multimodal combination including induction radio-chemotherapy followed by surgery.
