Günzburg State Hospital and the “Aktion T4”—A systematic review

This systematic review summarizes the main results of the research on the Günzburg State Hospital in Third Reich. These findings mainly concern the hospital’s role in the course of the “Aktion T4”. Other aspects like forced sterilization and the use of organs from patients who died at Günzburg for neuropathological research are covered as well. By providing the individual patient’s histories, the events at the Günzburg State Hospital shall be disclosed. Reconstructing these individual histories is not only a tool of historical research but also a way of commemorating the patients. It is important to note that key research projects have been initiated from within the modern Günzburg District Hospital itself.
