Deficit irrigation under water stress and salinity conditions: The MOPECO-Salt Model

► Three methods for simulating crops under water and saline stress conditions are compared. ► FAO-56 methodology was adopted for developing MOPECO-Salt Model. ► Leaching fraction is not always required for avoiding soil salinization. ► Rainfall after irrigation season may wash soluble salts and saving irrigation water. ► Not applying leaching can be profitable although it may cause yield drop.
