Late Palaeozoic to Mesozoic kinematic history of the Talas-Ferghana strike-slip fault (Kyrgyz West Tianshan) as revealed by 40Ar/39Ar dating of syn-kinematic white mica

► Kinematic and Ar-Ar study is conducted on the Talas Ferghana Fault. ► Ages are spread between 317 and 195 Ma. ► Onset of ductile dextral + Top-South deformation occurs at 317-312 Ma. ► Main low-grade T = 300-400 °C ductile deformation occurs in Late Permian. ► Reactivation occurs in the Lower Jurassic with pegmatitic melts and fluids.
