چکیده انگلیسی

There is an urgent need to perform seismic risk studies prior to the construction of vital facilities, such as liquefied natural gas terminals, in low-seismicity regions that are dominated by large-magnitude and distant earthquakes. Existing attenuation models were compared with local earthquake records in Singapore to determine a suitable attenuation relationship for modeling large-magnitude and distant earthquakes. Peak ground motions corresponding to exceedance probabilities of 10% in 50 years and 1% in 50 years can be predicted, such that the modeled ground motion can be simulated based on local earthquake records. The analysis of liquefaction potentials indicated that individual local deposits have liquefaction potentials with an exceedance probability of 1% in 50 years level. This study helps to improve the understanding of seismic risk in low-seismicity regions such as Singapore and Malaysia.

► Seismic risk was studied in low-seismicity area dominated by distant huge earthquake.
► A suitable attenuation relationship was determined for the low-seismicity area.
► Liquefaction potential analysis indicated individual possible damage to SSE level.
► The study helps to improve understanding of seismic risk in low-seismicity regions.
