Petrology and SHRIMP U-Pb dating of Xitieshan eclogite, North Qaidam UHP metamorphic belt, NW China

► Inclusion of coesite pseudomorph is first reported in the Xitieshan eclogite. ► A UHP metamorphic PT conditions of 2.71-3.17 GPa at 751-791 °C has been established. ► Two stages of retrograde metamorphic overprinted have been identified in eclogite. ► SHRIMP zircon dating yield a ca. 877 Ma protolith age and 440-460 Ma metamorphic ages.
