Douleurs musculo-squelettiques de la face, migraine et céphalée de tension : un problème multidisciplinaire

Musculoskeletal facial pain is linked to dysfunction and pain arising from the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are an umbrella term for all these pathologies. According to published data, TMDs are significantly associated with primary headache (migraine and tension type headache) in a bidirectional relationship. The aim of this short article is to give to all healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with cephalalgias the definitions of these pain diagnoses and the basis for their care. As TMD can worsen primary headache and primary headache exacerbate TMD, a global care of both odontological problem and primary headache seems necessary.
