Effect of Liquid Nano Material and Hydrated Lime in Improving the Moisture Behaviour of HMA
چکیده انگلیسی

It may be stated that the main reason for the failure of asphalt pavement, especially early damage, is due to destruction and loss of adhesion properties of bitumen in the asphalt mix. Stripping is the weakening or the loss of adhesion between the aggregate surface and bitumen in asphalt mixtures due to moisture that has a direct relationship with behavior of bitumen in the asphalt mixes. Therefore researchers are always looking for solutions to eliminate or at least reduce asphalt mixture problems by modifying bitumen. Nano materials were introduced as a new and effective option in this context. Therefore, one of the objectives of this study was to investigate and compare classical and rheological behavior of the base bitumen having penetration grade 85/100 and the same bitumen modified with 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5% of Zycosoil Nano materials by bitumen weight. Another objective was to compare the moisture behavior of asphalt mixtures with and without Zycosoil and mixtures containing hydrated lime. Then rheological properties of bitumen, including viscosity, failure temperature and rutting potential, as well as bitumen classical properties, by rotational viscometer test, Dynamic Shear Rheometer test and multiple stress creep and recovery test were evaluated. Moisture sensitivity of asphalt mixes also using boiling test and indirect tensile strength tests were evaluated. Test results indicated that improved mixing conditions; reduce the temperature of asphalt mixtures, increasing rutting resistance, increasing the bitumen failure temperature and significant improvements in reducing moisture sensitivity to asphalt mixtures.
