چکیده انگلیسی
Current methods utilized for the inactivation of highly pathogenic bacteria (HPB) prior to characterization by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry (MS) and the subsequent effects on spectral profiles are reviewed. Specifically, studies pertaining to the genera Bacillus, Burkholderia, Brucella, Francisella and Yersinia are critically examined with the intent to provide an overview on current research in this area and further to suggest best practices for MALDI-TOF MS compatible inactivation of HPB.
