Photoelectron spectroscopy of natural products: Hydroxy-flavones and naringenin

► Electronic structures of hydroxyflavones and naringenin have been determined. ► Relationship between radical scavenging and antioxidant activity and the OH substitution had been described. ► The molecular conformations of the flavones and naringenin have been established by DFT calculations.
