Synthesis, structure and Eu2+-doped luminescence properties of bromosilicate compound Ca3SiO4Br2

► The Ca3SiO4Br2 crystal has been grown and the structure has been analyzed. ► Ca3SiO4Br2:Eu2+ gives a blue emission band centered at 469 nm. ► PL decay curves and the temperature dependent PL behavior of Ca3SiO4Br2:Eu2+ have been discussed.
