Effects of ZnS:Mn concentrated vinyl ester matrices under flexural loading on the triboluminescent yield

► ZnS:Mn phosphors were utilized as triboluminescent emitters in unreinforced vinyl ester resins. Concentrated samples were cast for flexural mechanical testing. ► Luminescence varied linearly with increased concentration. ► Sample mechanical specific properties decreased with filler concentration. ► Luminescence is observed at fracture of specimen with phosphors under mechanical failure at micron scale.
