C2-symmetric cyclohexane-based hydrogels: A rational designed LMWG and its application in dye scavenging

► The pH-responsive C2-symmetric cyclohexane based hydrogels was synthesized. ► The hydrogels gels can efficiently adsorb toxic water-soluble dyes. ► The adsorption equilibrium is in agreement with the Langmuir isotherm model. ► The reversible adsorption of the dyes is confirmed by varying pH of the medium. ► This indicates a possible use of gelator as a quick and reusable dye adsorbent.
