The author sets out to cast light on the hyper-complexity of Alzheimer's disease by articulating and drawing parallels between neurobiology and psychoanalysis, for example by linking the death drive, disinvestment and apoptosis. It is within this framework that he analyses the involution of the psyche, thought and emotional life in relation to dysfunction of neuronal networks, without disregarding the impact of object relations and the environment. This is a holistic approach, evidencing the destruction of neuropsychoanalytical links, but also, to some extent, their possible repair.
