Adaptation en créole martiniquais et validation préliminaire d'une échelle d'évaluation de la dépression chez les personnes âgées

Depression is commonly encountered among people aged 65 and over. Recognition of its manifestations in this population is a priority. In Martinique, there is no specific tool for its evaluation in an aging population, mostly Creole-speaking. This article presents the results of a study conducted on 150 Creole-speaking elderly subjects, establishing the psychometric properties of the GDS-KM 15, a Martinican Creole version of the Geriatric Depression Scale developed by Yesavage et al. (1983). The statistical analyses show the good psychometric properties for the GDS-KM 15. It could be a tool of choice for clinicians interested in evaluating depression in Creole-speaking elderly people.
