Les infections du site opératoire

Surgical site infections are nosocomial infections occurring after surgery. The main risk factors involved are the pre-, per- and postoperative environment surrounding the patient and the healthcare team, the host's immune defences and especially the degree of hygiene during the surgical act. In order to reduce the incidence of this pathology, there is a need for improving its detection and monitoring, optimising hygiene measures and protocols in the operating theatre or the hospital room and, lastly, adapting preventive treatments to the corresponding level of risk. All this requires multidisciplinary care, patient information concerning this risk, and conscientious involvement by all healthcare stakeholders.
