Toxicity of terpenes on fibroblast cells compared to their hemolytic potential and increase in erythrocyte membrane fluidity

► Terpenes are powerful enhancers of erythrocyte membrane fluidity. ► The greatest effect on membrane fluidity was observed for the more hemolytic terpene. ► Nerolidol and α-terpineol were the most cytotoxic among the eight terpenes studied.
