Modelling alongshore flow in a semi-enclosed lagoon strongly forced by tides and waves

Inside the reef at Xai-Xai Beach we have measured water level and a consistent alongshore current. The current varies with the tide, but with a peculiar minimum at maximum tidal level. This has inspired a 1D model formulation driven by water level and waves, which reproduces the main dynamics well.173
