Photosynthetic and growth responses of a perennial halophytic grass Panicum turgidum to increasing NaCl concentrations

► Panicum turgidum could survive in up to seawater salinity (500 mM NaCl). ► Moderate salinity has little effect on plant growth. ► Photosynthesis is positively related to salinity in influencing growth. ► Photoinhibition under saline conditions causing oxidative stress. ► Results indicate that Panicum may be used as fodder crop for saline areas.
