Exogenously applied glycinebetaine enhances seed and seed oil quality of maize (Zea mays L.) under water deficit conditions

▶ Foliar-applied GB positively effected the seed composition under water stress. ▶ Exogenously applied GB increased the internal GB contents of leaves and seeds. ▶ Foliar-applied GB enhanced the seed oil quality under water stress conditions. ▶ Oil tocopherols, flavonoids, and phenolics also increased due to foliar-applied GB. ▶ Furthermore, foliar applied GB also increased the seed oil antioxidant activity.
