Assessment of DNA extraction methods for PCR testing of discontinued or unapproved biotech events in single seeds of canola, flax and soybean

► DNA extraction methods were assessed for single seeds of canola, flax and soybean. ► Significant differences were observed in DNA yield among three extraction methods. ► There was either weak or no correlation between seed weight and DNA yield data. ► PCR suitable DNA was successfully extracted from single seeds. ► OXY235 canola, FP967 flax and DP305423 soybean biotech events were detected with PCR.
