Porcine parvovirus flocculation and removal in the presence of osmolytes

- Porcine parvovirus (PPV) was aggregated with osmolytes and removed with microfiltration.
- 96% of PPV was removed in 3.0 M glycine at a pH of 5.
- Flocculation is specific to virus particles, making it a potential method to purify the virus from host cell proteins.
- Microfiltration is often used to retain bacteria, and therefore this is a unique application for small virus removal.
