Metachromasy as an indicator of photostabilization of methylene blue adsorbed to clays and minerals

► Photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) on clays minerals and a zeolite was tested. ► MB on some clays exhibited stabilization and on others-fast degradation. ► Photostabilization was observed on the clays that exhibited metachromasy.
