N-butanol removal over alumina supported platinum catalysts

► Pt/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by incipient wetness impregnation and sol-gel methods. ► Butanol dehydration and 1-butene isomerization are function of catalyst acidity. ► Excessive amount of Lewis acidic sites contributes to a deactivation of the catalyst. ► Inhibitor effect of water on butanol oxidation.
