Quantification of cloud water interception along the windward slope of Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos (Ecuador)

► The Galapagos Islands are covered by fog during six months of the year. ► Weather stations were settled at the cloud base and center at Santa Cruz Island. ► Cloud water interception is estimated with a running wet canopy water budget. ► It is negligible at the cloud base but was estimated at 26 ± 16% of incident rainfall in the center of the cloud belt. ► Wind is proven to enhance interception rates.
