Hydrothermal carbonization of olive mill wastewater

► The waste product olive mill wastewater was subjected to hydrothermal treatment. ► Biochar production is low due to low carbohydrate content. ► Simple biophenols are almost quantitatively released from aglycons during the process. ► Phenol, benzenediols, and carboxylic acids proved most abundant analytes.
