Characterization of a GH family 3 β-glycoside hydrolase from Chrysosporium lucknowense and its application to the hydrolysis of β-glucan and xylan

► Bxl5 successfully cloned, purified and characterized. ► Bxl5 hydrolyzed wide range of substrates and exhibited high thermal stability. ► Bxl5 provided almost 100% conversion of laminarin and barley β-glucan into d-glucose. ► Bxl5 seems to be a very promising enzyme for bioconversion purposes.
