Mining-induced strata stress changes, fractures and gas flow dynamics in multi-seam longwall mining

► Strata displacement, stress and water pressure changes were monitored at longwall. ► Stress changes, permeability conditions, and gas flow dynamics were modelled. ► Identified a 3D annular zone along the longwall perimeter for enhanced gas drainage. ► Developed a new approach to design of optimal co-extraction of coal and methane.
