Determination of crystal violet in water by direct solid phase spectrophotometry after rotating disk sorptive extraction

► We implemented a PDMS sorptive phase on a rotating disk for microextraction of crystal violet. ► The analyte was measured directly in the sorptive phase by spectrophotometry. ► We explain the mechanism of retention of the analyte into the solid phase. ► The rotating disk can be stirred at high velocities without damaging the phase. ► The disk configuration is easily fabricated in the laboratory.
