Combination of carbon nanotubes modified filters with microextraction by packed sorbent for the NACE analysis of trace levels of ionic liquids in river water samples

► Ionic liquid, in spite to be considered green solvents for some authors, are an emergent pollutant that must be controlled due to their toxic effects. ► The determination of ionic liquid in spiked river samples have been carried out thanks to the high capacity of silica-MEPS to preconcentrate ionic liquids before their CE analysis. ► Potential matrix organic interferences from the river water samples were removed by using a modified filter with carbon nanotubes ► The proposed method allow the analysis from only 5 mL of sample.
