Reactions of ferric hemoglobin and myoglobin with hydrogen sulfide under physiological conditions

When ferric hemoglobin and myoglobin react in vitro with low physiological levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), the two proteins engage differently in equilibrium and redox reactions, suggesting novel in vivo roles in reversible H2S transport in the blood and sulfide signaling in the heart, respectively.71
