8-Hydroxypyrene-1,3,6-trisulphonate and octanesulphonate co-assembled layered double hydroxide and its controllable solid-state luminescence by hydrothermal synthesis

► 8-hydroxy-pyrene-1,3,6-trisulphonate (HPTS) was intercalated into ZnAl LDHs. ► They show the controllable dual fluorescence response to the HPTS content and pH values. ► Fluorescence of the HPTS/LDH film was insensitive to the quencher (Cu2+) concentration.
