A new procedure for in situ determination of the Poisson ratio of a rock mass

• A new test to determine Poisson׳s coefficient in rock mass has been devised.
• The test is performed by measuring the radial deformation in three non-collinear boreholes.
• Once the stress state is known the Poisson coefficient is determined without a priori estimates values.
