Decrease of Schmidt hammer hardness controlled by schistosity orientation of metamorphic rocks after loading with TBM cutters

► 7 Alpine lithologies were tested on their Schmidt hammer hardness.
► Rebound values before and after loading with a TBM cutter were compared.
► A decrease in the rebound values after cutting is observed on all samples.
► The damage zone after loading is controlled by the rock schistosity.
