Factors affecting the development of the pressure differential in Upper Paleozoic gas reservoirs in the Sulige and Yulin areas of the Ordos Basin, China

►This work provides an explanation of the reservoir pressure difference in the Sulige and the Yulin gas field. ►The reduction of formation pressure in the two areas during the late Cretaceous period were obtained by numerical simulation. ►Hydrocarbon-generating intensity and fluid inclusions data indicate that the more pre-uplift fluid charging has a significant impact on the present day pressure differential.
