► Main coal development occurs in a estuary-lagoonal setting in a TST sequence. ► Vitrinite reflectances are indicative of subbituminous rank (Rrandom = 0.36-0.47%). ► Maceral composition is highly variable. ► The coals are ash-rich, ranging from 22.4 to 62.3% wt.%.
