Winds and tides of Ligeia Mare, with application to the drift of the proposed time TiME (Titan Mare Explorer) capsule

► Ligeia Mare is a large hydrocarbon sea on Titan, a possible destination for future missions such as 'TiME'. ► We present surface wind predictions from several Global Circulation Models, to assess the drift of a floating capsule such as 'TiME'. ► Surface winds vary with season, in late Titan summer (2023) 0.5 m/s is typical. ► We use a numerical model to predict tides: an amplitude of ∼0.6m is found, with currents of the order of ∼1 cm/s for our assumed 300m depth. ► Doppler and other measurements will be able to measure the drift of a floating capsule.
