Biomimetic albumin-modified gold nanorods for photothermo-chemotherapy and macrophage polarization modulation

The biomimetic albumin-modified gold nanorods (AuNRs) with incorporation of paclitaxel (PTX) were characterized by the improved biocompatibility and colloidal stability, and the enhanced cellular uptake, which were used for photothermo-chemotherapy with synergistic effects by efficiently killing the tumor cells and suppressing the macrophages polarization towards the M2 pro-tumor phenotype.194
