It was shown that results in the treatment of gonarthrosis using shock waves to stimulate local and distal points were at least as good as those achieved with needle acupuncture. From the author's viewpoint this new method has in fact a distinct superiority over classical acupuncture with regard to the speed of improvement, the extent of pain-reduction and the relief of contractions.
