Douleurs aiguës chez un patient atteint de cancer : prise en charge dans un service d'accueil des urgences

In order to avoid serious consequences for the patient's autonomy and quality of life, a specifically defined process must be applied when treating acute cancer pain in an emergency unit. In addition to determining the intensity of the pain intensity and gathering information on preexisting pain therapy, a careful analysis must identify the mechanism of the pain and search systematically for signs of tumor growth or complications. This process contributes to establishing a coherent analgesic treatment and to defining the appropriate follow-up after the acute event. The aim of this article is to put forward all the specific components of treatment of acute cancer pain in an emergency unit.
