Conducteur à risque et secret médical

Drugs and driving do not always go together. In a society where a culprit has to be found because risk is unacceptable, medical practitioners must be prudent when identifying a condition or prescribing a drug incompatible with driving. While the prevention of traffic accidents is certainly one of the missions of healthcare professionals, that mission cannot override fundamental medical secrecy. Disclosing a patient's condition to legal authorities or confiscating an individual's driver's license are not licit medical interventions. It is the duty of healthcare professionals to inform their patients of the potential danger and to advise them about the legal implications of their medical condition.
