Pain and functional problems with the temporomandibular joint present a variety of clinical forms. Contrary to what has been described for many years, they do not correspond to a syndrome. Questioning the patient and clinical examination are most often sufficient to specify the type of dysfunction of the manducatory apparatus. Treatment, which will not be detailed in this article, is oriented toward reversible treatments such as occlusal appliances, rehabilitation, or maxillofacial physical therapy.
