La douleur : clé de la conscience ?

There has been a large debate concerning fetal analgesia during medical abortions. The hypothesis that the fetus could perceive pain is equivalent to consciousness. The question is similar to that concerning anesthesia for cadavers during organ harvesting procedures, implying that pain could persist after death, and thus that consciousness could exist post mortem. This leads to the concept of dedicated management of pain individualizing a specific discipline where such observations could be used to study the essence of non-material consciousness. Such an approach might lead to interesting therapeutic and accompanying perspectives.
