RésuméLe statut du premier objet investi lors de la naissance de la vie psychique constitue une énigme complexe, tant scientifique que philosophique et humaine. Les auteurs en proposent une vision à la fois personnelle et inspirée du vaste champ métapsychologique jusqu’alors destiné à apporter un support descriptif, voire explicatif, à cette question. Ils s’appuient pour cela sur la base d’un trépied conceptuel regroupant les processus de représentation pictographique de type « contenant », le rôle réflecteur de l’objet externe et la bidimensionnalité.
