Coordination entre une équipe mobile de soins palliatifs, un établissement d'hébergement pour personnes âgées dépendantes, un résident et sa famille : autour d'une situation clinique

The development of palliative care program in France these past few years has contributed to the intervention of the mobile teams in nursing facilities and at home. Through this perspective, two psychologists working in partnership within a mobile team and a nursing home, explore the integration process of a mobile team in the triangulation resident-family-caregiver team in a nursing home. This theoretical-psychological reflection will be analysed through a clinical case of a resident with a serious chronic illness in a nursing home. Indeed, this approach seems to be especially challenging to achieve due to the imbroglio of several demands submitted by the different actors. Principally, the demands carried out by the nursing home's team, those carried out by the resident's family and finally those coming from the residents themselves. The nursing home has a function of a host though it is dominated by the nursing care applied to its residents. Thus, introducing a palliative care mobile team within a nursing home causes the conjunction of two distinct spheres: one where life goes on for the resident settled in the nursing home and the other one, where palliative care is submitted for the resident with a serious chronic illness. In the end, when a nursing home seeks the services of a palliative care mobile team, what does it expect from the mobile team? Whom the mobile team comes to take care of and protect? Does it represent the thinking mechanism of the palliative program care for the nursing team? What roles can the family occupy in these circumstances? And where is the resident placed in the middle of this process?
