Médicalisation du mourir et risque de désubjectivation : leçon d'un patient

The medicalization of dying has grown significantly in recent years, increasing the risk of a desubjectivation. Through a clinical situation experienced in our palliative care unit, we wondered about the links between the technique at the end of life and risk of reification. In our occidental society, death is now considered a failure of medicine and the almost systematic answer to the complaint is an act of care. We must always think about the purpose of the technique and consider it as an intermediary between two subjects.
