There were 72 responses from 25 nurses, 21 physicians, 15 psychologists and 11 other team members. Most of the responders expressed difficult life experiences, especially the physicians. Having knowledge of what can be, but is not done to relieve a patient generates a feeling of deception for the health-care professional. Many regret insufficient recognition from their peers. Mutual recognition is essential for complementary intervention within the setting of eminent death. The link between the referring units and the palliative care team must be carefully prepared and maintained to facilitate and improve the benefit of palliative care. The comments collected during this survey highlight the specificity of the medical position in palliative care. These comments are analyzed in light of reports in the literature.
