RésuméLe débat sur la dignité en soins palliatifs fait l’objet de prises de positions qui semblent contradictoires. D’un côté, certaines associations (ADMD) militent pour la légalisation de l’euthanasie, contre l’acharnement thérapeutique et le « dolorisme », revendiquant le droit à mourir dans la dignité. D’un autre côté, les défenseurs des soins palliatifs, distinguant clairement « faire mourir » et « laisser mourir », reconnaissent l’existence d’obstinations déraisonnables et régulent l’activité thérapeutique au nom de la dignité. Quelles sont les raisons d’une telle séparation, voire d’un tel fossé, au point qu’on ne puisse plus avoir une idée claire de la dignité ? Le projet de cet article est de venir clarifier, préciser et expliciter les différents plans d’analyse dont la dignité fait l’objet, se demandant si la dignité peut se perdre.
