Ventajas de la rehabilitación asistida mediante robot en la recuperación de las funciones motriz y visuoespacial en pacientes en fase de recuperación de un accidente cerebrovascular

Stroke is a leading cause of disability in Europe and accounts for a substantial proportion of national health budgets. Of the 65% of first stroke survivors living independently, 35% will be significantly disabled and will need help with activities of daily living. Although many stroke patients have primary sensory and/or motor deficits, a large proportion of victims have higher order impairments of visuospatial or sensorimotor function. Improving the success of therapies available for stroke patients will have major benefits for patients and will contribute substantial economic benefits. The use of robot-mediated therapy could substantially improve the recovery of function after stroke and in turn reduce the demands placed on therapists and hospitals. Current robot rehabilitation techniques and issues are discussed.
